A pair of Aji stone mined from Mount Goken makes a seat, its soft peaks reciprocating to the one who sits. The mountain gets its name from its distinctive peaks, likened to “five swords” (goken). Lining up more of these soft stone peaks makes a bench.

The product is made with Aoishima Aji Stone by AOISHIMA Inc., founded by artisan Chikara Ninomiya, who specializes in crafting Aji stone, a granite variant known for its finely-woven crystals, bluish hue, and resilience. AOISHIMA upholds the 400-year legacy of this rare material with a high level of expertise, from mining to the craft of fabricating the final product out of the hardest granite in the world.
