Outside In No.1,2,3
The original porcelain vessels of the Outside In series are sourced from old shops and thrift stores and they usually lie on dust filled shelves as dead-stock. Once decorative and sought after, shifts in contemporary aesthetics has now rendered them kitschy and old-fashioned.
This work transforms the out-dated porcelain vessel by strategically removing the original glaze surface, exposing the white porcelain bisque underneath. The resulting new pattern on the white bisque is appropriated from decorations on the original glaze, and part of the original glaze is preserved so that the contrast is observable.
